In May 2024, four years after the publication of its 2050 Carbon Neutrality Roadmap, CEMBUREAU published its updated Net Zero Roadmap. The evolution of technology and a strong boost in projects developed by the cement companies, have allowed CEMBUREAU to scale up its climate ambition level in this update.

To elaborate the roadmap, experts from the European cement industry have looked in detail at the role of key technologies at each stage of the value chain – clinker, cement, concrete, construction and concrete carbonation –. The roadmap quantifies each decarbonisation lever, looking at the challenges and opportunities of each technology, as well as technical feasibility.
The roadmap update looks at the progress achieved since the publication of CEMBUREAU’s carbon neutrality roadmap in May 2020.
